It's crazy to think I have almost been gone a year! So much has happened during this time and it's because of all your support! I want to start off by saying thank you and tell you that you have made a huge impact on my life and tons of other lives, so thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Now the information you have been wondering about! Our July DTS is in full swing! It's been a crazy, fun, sometimes stressful journey switching from base staff where I had my own schedule doing my own thing to DTS staff where I follow a schedule and am here for the students 24/7. I would not have it any other way! This is such an amazing group of students God has blessed us with for the July DTS. We have 6 guys and 3 girls, a bit different than past schools where our girls out number the guys! I'm so excited to see more men in the mission field following hard after God. You may be wondering what DTS staff is and how it's different from what I did during our last school. DTS staff is school staff. A typical day starts around 6 AM and could go until midnight. We sit in on lectures with students, we teach leadership nights and one week of lectures, we organize ministry opportunities, we grade academic work, we lead small group sessions, we counsel students one on one, and we are there for support as they go through tough, life-changing experiences. Since we only have three girls this school I get the opportunity to co-lead a small group. Small group sessions happen once a week and it's a time for us girls to get together and share what God is doing in our lives. We do things like hang out, bake goods, Bible studies, and learn about influential women leaders. I also have the privilege of doing one on ones which are times to connect with the student on an individual level to check in and see how she is doing and help challenge her on her journey. I've learned that the only qualification I have for this calling God has put on my life is that I love Him, and He has given me a passion to help people my age find freedom in Him! I'm constantly reminded that God doesn't call the qualified, but He qualifies the called. I have learned to fully rely and put my trust in Him and dive into His word to find truth so that I can spread His love to the best of my ability. I can say it hasn't been easy; there has definitely been some rough spots along the way, but never once has He left me to do it on my own (Heb 13:5). Each week we have a speaker brought in to teach on specific subjects. So far, we have had speakers teach on being a warrior, the Nature and Character of God, and the Father Heart of God. With each speaker comes new and exciting challenges for not only the students but for us as staff! This past week for Father Heart was especially challenging. Our speaker brought in new ideas about the Bible and God that I have never heard before. He taught us new ways to view God and His love for us even in the most gruesome scenes in the Bible. God brought so many new revelations this week and I am so pumped to see how He continues to move these next 7 weeks! I would like to ask for your prayer, that God gives us energy, strength, and open minds to staff and students here. I know He has so much to truth to offer and so much freedom He longs for each students to have. Freedom from past hurts and wounds, freedom to be who He has called each one of them to be! Thank you again for supporting me and helping do what God has called me to do! I truly appreciate it and want you to know that YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!!
