Hi all, and thanks for taking the time to read this week!
So much has been going on. My typical day here begins at 4:45am and doesn't end until about midnight. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, I wake up, do my quiet time, then head off to do sea grass duty. For those of you who don't know, we are required to do three hours of work duties around the base a week. Me and three other girls were given the privilege of shoveling sea grass off the beach every other day from 6-7am. (And yes, you read that right, the privilege! A couple of weeks ago I never would have said that. I probably would have complained, but here, I'm able to wake up, do my quiet time, hangout with an awesome sea grass shoveling partner named Janette, and watch the sunrise.) Although it's not the most glamorous of jobs, it is teaching me discipline and how to have a servant's heart. After work duties are over we get an hour break to eat breakfast and get ready for worship/devos and lectures.
Every morning we come together as a group and have devotions lead by students and worship from 8-9am. After that we usually get a 30 minute break to eat a snack and hangout. Then, we go straight into lectures until 1pm. We break for lunch until 2pm and then depending on what day it is we either have study time, small groups, or one on one sessions. So, I don't get to just lay around on the beach all day haha! Then we come back together at 6pm and have dinner. This is probably the most challenging thing I've done in my life. It's physically and emotionally challenging, but I love it. I feel like this is where I belong and wonder why it took me so long to find this place!
I have exciting news!! They announced our outreach locations! We were given three choices, but only two were open to American citizens. The first was in Nicaragua and Panama. The second, was in Venezuela. After they announced the choices they said, ok we are going to take five minutes to pray about it and come back with an answer. Immediately my mind starting racing!! I was thinking, what the heck, five minutes to make this huge of a decision?? Little did I know how easy it would be. I really wanted to go to Nicaragua, but something felt funny, so I wrote down each choice on a seperate piece of paper, turned on my Ipod and started praying. I jostled them around in my hand, thinking ok God whichever one I open is where I'm supposed to go. I opened it and it said Venezuela. Bummed out I said ok best 2 out of 3. So I did it again and guess what it was, Venezuela!! I wrote it down and as soon as I did a peace came around me and I just knew that was the right choice. Our group consist of 20 people! We will be traveling from Belize to Venezuela November 23. The total cost is $4,000, but since I had such a great support system before I got here, I only need $900 more!! I'm not worried at all about the money. If it's His will, it's His bill!!
I would like to ask that you all continue to keep me and my DTS family in your prayers. Please pray that God brings in the money for our outreach and that all of the details go smooth. Thank you again for your continuing prayers, support, and encouragement!! I love you all!!
