Who I Am

I am a North Carolina native who is passionate about sharing real life experiences.

There is no other explanation for the direction my life has taken other than God knows me better than I know myself. My journey really began in 2011 when I was on scholarship to play college softball, something I had always dreamed of doing. Suddenly my excitement for the game became non-existent. Not sure what to do, I laid down my glove and began a waitress job at a local diner. After the first semester I left university and decided to take a couple of courses at the local community college to save money while figuring out what my next move would be. In early 2012 I decided to give in and look into a website my aunt had given me called ywam.org. After a few short moments of browsing I found a place called YWAM Destination Paradise that was offering a Discipleship Training School, DTS, (Which at this time I had no clue what a DTS was) in September 2012. With little to no hesitation I applied and was accepted to go. On September 4, 2012, I left North Carolina and said hello to my new home on the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize, Central America. Since that day my life has never been the same. I had the joy and pleasure of calling Belize home and YWAM DP family for five amazing years.  During my time there I was able to travel the world, pour into young adults, speak at events, and live life alongside of people from all different cultural backgrounds.
In 2018 my life entered a new chapter which started with a move back to North Carolina. During my first year back Stateside, I was challenged to not make any major life decisions for a year. I accepted this incredibly hard challenge on June 1, 2018. Up until then my life was full of adventure and constant excitement. Staying in one place for a year seemed crazy to me, but I did it. During this time I did various things, including taking an online course in World Missions and getting my EMT certification along with a job as an EMT (I just wanted to see if I could do it). I ended up landing a full time job at my church which came with benefits and a steady paycheck, two things I had never really experienced because I lived off of support raising. On June 2, 2019, I met the love of my life. Nine months later we made the commitment to stay by each other's side for the rest of our lives by saying, "I do." Two weeks after that the world changed forever with the start of COVID19. We persevered through alongside of everyone, but from a safe distance of course. We had victories and losses, many of which I will be sharing in this blog. In August of 2021 we welcome our beautiful baby girl. Our lives have never been the same.
My heart with this blog is to process my own journey as well as offer any comfort to those who may be going through or have gone through similar experiences as me. We all have a story. We are all on our own journey. Sometimes our journeys may look similar, in which case when we share, we gift the ability for those around us to have a safe place to process. Thats my hope. I look forward to sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly with you!
