Riley's Tribute

Riley will always hold a special place in my heart. Adopting her at 8 weeks old was the best decision my roommate and I could have ever made. I remember her first night with us. She was whimpering and crying, as most new puppies do, in a wood crate beside my bed. I had tears streaming down my face wondering what I had just gotten myself into. How was I supposed to take care of an animal financially, time, training, etc... I forgot to mention I was living on an island in Belize. I was 20 years old. I had no money and worked full days of pouring into young adults. A dog didn't exactly fit into the equation but she snuggled her way into my heart. She spent the next six years by my side, quickly becoming my emotional support animal who journeyed with me through life and locations. Laying her to rest was challenging as it felt like the final end to a season of my life, but I choose to believe she is in a better place, waiting for the day when she can jump on my lap and lick my face with her poop breath.
